| A unique opportunity is provided
whereby the Fellow learns the art and science of arthroscopic management
of shoulder disorders previously treated through open approaches. As
a result of various successful new theories and innovations designed
by the fellowship director, a variety of shoulder pathology is addressed
completely through the arthroscope including rotator cuff tears (including
subscapularis), bicep tendinopathy, SLAP lesions, instability, and adhesive
capsulitis. In addition, a valuable open shoulder experience is gained
through the treatment of arthritis and bone defects in instability. The
program’s flexibility provides a balance of different research
opportunities and academic pursuits in a clinical practice setting. Further,
the Fellow is welcomed and encouraged to work with the Biomechanical
Engineering Department at the college, develop his/her own research projects
and to participate in the presentation and preparation of scientific
publications. There is ample opportunity for interaction with numerous
visiting international orthopaedic surgeons. |
