Dr. Brown is a graduate of Texas Tech University, Lubbock, Texas, where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Microbiology. He received his medical degree from The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston.

He completed his internship in surgery at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, Pennsylvania. He completed his residency in orthopaedic surgery at The University of Missouri at Kansas City. He completed his fellowship in orthopaedic surgery of the lower leg, foot, and ankle at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, Texas. Dr. Brown is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and a member of the Executive Committee of The San Antonio Orthopaedic Group.
