Dr.
Garcia is an orthopaedic surgeon specializing in arthroscopic surgery
and total joint reconstruction. Dr. Garcia is a native of San Antonio.
He is a graduate of Central Catholic high school and St. Mary's University where he received a Bachelor's of Science degree with honors. He received his medical degree from The University of Texas Health
Science Center at Dallas,
Southwestern Medical School. He completed his internship and orthopaedic
residency at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. |

His post orthopaedic training included a 6 month spine externship at The University
of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. During that time he published
two spine related and one joint reconstruction related articles. Dr. Garcia is board
certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and recently completed his 10 year recertification.
Dr. Garcia has been in private practice since 1991 and his practice has evolved
towards treatment of sports related and arthritic conditions of the knee. In
1996, he was the first surgeon in Texas to perform the
Carticel procedure, an innovative way to reimplant cartilage to damaged areas
of the knee. He has the most experience in San Antonio performing this procedure.
Other orthopaedic firsts for Dr. Garcia include: the UniSpacer minimally invasive
knee implant, metal-on-metal bearing hip implants and computer navigated total
knee replacements using the Ci System. |
