Dr. Gonzalez
came to The San Antonio Orthopaedic Group after more than 21 years
of service with the United States Army. His immediate past position was chief/chairman and residency program director of orthopaedic surgery at Brooke Army Medical Center in Fort Sam Houston, Texas. |

He
underwent special fellowship training in basic science research
and sports medicine and was trained at The U.S. Military Academy
at West Point under Jack B. Ryan, M.D., and Robert A. Arciero,
M.D. During his fellowship he also spent time at The Hospital for
Special Surgery in New York City, training under Russell F. Warren,
M.D., and Thomas L. Wickiewicz, M.D. He also rotated with and trained
under Stephen S. Burkhart, M.D., in San Antonio, Texas. He served
as chief of orthopaedics in various different assignments during
his Army career from Ft. Hood, Texas to Seoul, Korea, as well as
the 93rd Evacuation Hospital in Saudi Arabia during Operation Desert
Storm. His orthopaedic residency training was at Brooke Army Medical
Center as was his internship in categorical surgery. He is a graduate
of The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio
and The University of Texas at Austin. He was born and grew up
in San Antonio, Texas, and has strong ties to the community. |
