General Orthopaedics

General orthopaedists are the family physicians of specialty orthopedic care.

Rather than limiting their practice to specific areas of the body, they are skilled diagnosticians who treat a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions for both adult and pediatric patients.

What is a General Orthopaedist?

A General Orthopaedist is an orthopaedic surgeon who has chosen not to narrow his or her focus to a particular area of the body, but instead to offer comprehensive care for all musculoskeletal injuries and conditions.

Not all orthopedic practitioners have the same qualifications. Our surgeons:

  • Are board-certified in orthopaedic surgery. What does that mean?
  • Have completed medical school and five or more years of orthopaedic internship and residency training.
  • Are required to maintain their board-certifications through continuing medical education and re-examinations.

At The San Antonio Orthopaedic Group, our surgeons’ extensive educational training provides them with a solid clinical background to coordinate the treatment of each patient on a case by case basis using state-of-the-art care.
