Dr. Craig A. Kampfer is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in joint replacement. He is specialty trained in Joint Replacement surgery and treats patients 16 years of age and up for all orthopaedic conditions.

Craig Kampfer spent his formative years on a small farm in Ohio where his family raised beef cattle and baled hay. Growing up, he played sports and showed livestock in 4-H. He continued his academic and athletic career at the University of Charleston in West Virginia where he played football and graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor's in biology. He went on to accept a Health Professions Scholarship with the United States Army and attended medical school at Northeast Ohio Medical University.
He started his military service in San Antonio, where he completed his orthopedic residency at Brooke Army Medical Center. During residency, Dr. Kampfer and his wife lived in Schertz and dreamed of putting down permanent roots in the area with their two young boys. His post-residency assignment was at Fort Hood, where he served as the orthopedic clinic OIC at Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center and deployed to Syria in support of Operation Inherent Resolve. After fulfilling his Army commitment, he completed a fellowship in Adult Reconstruction at the Minnesota Center for Orthopedics in Crosby, Minnesota. Dr. Kampfer then joined TSAOG Orthopaedics & Spine to have the opportunity to live in and serve the communities of South Texas.
When not providing care, you can find him spending time with his wife and two boys, playing pickleball with his father-in-law, in the gym or on the golf course.
Dr. Kampfer is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and is a member of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He is skilled in minimally invasive, muscle sparing techniques, and the use of robotic technology. He has a special interest in hip, shoulder, and knee replacement surgery as well as revision surgery.
Dr. Kampfer believes in patient centered care with a focus on shared decision making. He advocates for treatment plans, operative and non-operative, that will allow patients to stay active and continue to participate in activities they love.
