About Dr. Scofield:

‍

Harrison Scofield, MD is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon specializing in Sports Medicine Surgery and Shoulder Reconstruction at The San Antonio Orthopaedic Group. A proud native of San Antonio, Texas, Dr. Scofield is honored to provide expert, compassionate care to the community he calls home.

Dr. Scofield completed his prestigious Sports Medicine and Shoulder Reconstruction Fellowship at the world-renowned Steadman Hawkins Clinic of the Carolinas. During his time there, he had the unique opportunity to work closely with elite athletes, providing care for the Clemson Tigers, North Greenville University and the Colorado Rockies during Spring Training. This high-level experience has helped refine his expertise in treating complex sports injuries and shoulder conditions.

Before his fellowship, Dr. Scofield trained at John Peter Smith Hospital (JPS) in Fort Worth, and gained extensive orthopaedic trauma experience at one of the busiest Level 1 trauma centers in Texas. His training provided him with a strong foundation in the management of complex fractures and orthopedic emergencies, skills he now brings to his private practice patients. He also achieved top scores nationally on the Orthopaedic In-Training Examination (OITE), earning awards for academic excellence multiple years in a row.

Dr. Scofield earned his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude, finishing in the top of his class. His dedication to excellence extends to research as well: he has published scientific articles on topics such as shoulder arthroplasty and the treatment of ACL injuries in leading orthopedic journals.

Dr. Scofield believes in a patient-first philosophy, treating every patient like he would treat a member of his own family. He is committed to providing personalized care, always recommending non-surgical treatments first whenever appropriate. Surgery is only recommended when it is truly necessary and after other options have been carefully considered.

Whether helping young athletes get back on the field or assisting adults in reclaiming their active lifestyle, Dr. Scofield brings passion, skill, and empathy to every case. He is excited to be serving the San Antonio community with the most advanced orthopedic techniques available today.
