Patrick Ahern, M.D. First Clinic In San Antonio Recognized as an Intracept Center of Excellence

Congratulations Dr. Ahern, for earning the Intracept Center of Excellence designation, becoming the first in San Antonio to do so. The Intracept Center of Excellence designation is provided to physicians who have achieved a high level of training and experience with the Intracept procedure and demonstrate a commitment to maintaining a high level of proficiency in performing the procedure.

The Intracept Procedure is a minimally invasive, outpatient treatment for chronic low back pain. It uses radiofrequency heat energy to ablate the basivertebral nerve, a nerve inside the vertebrae that transmits pain signals from damaged vertebral endplates to the brain. The procedure takes 60-90 minutes, requires no implants, and provides durable relief.
