A distal radius fracture is a break near the end of the radius bone, which is one of the main bones in your forearm, close to the wrist. This type of fracture often happens from falls onto an outstretched hand. During surgical repair, the surgeon realigns the broken pieces and usually secures them with a plate and screws to help the bone heal properly. This can restore wrist strength, alignment, and motion, helping you return to normal activities.
